Wirex Agents: Enabling AI-Driven Stablecoin Cards and Autonomous Micropayments

AI systems are already managing real operational workflows — routing payouts, handling subscriptions, settling compute costs, and optimising treasury logic.

But in most financial stacks, automation still stops at the final step: moving money.

That execution gap is what Wirex Agents is designed to solve. Wirex Agents is a non-custodial infrastructure layer that enables AI agents to create stablecoin cards, open virtual accounts, and execute autonomous financial transactions directly onchain — without taking custody of funds.

For teams building agentic commerce, programmable finance, and AI-native payment systems, this introduces something that has largely been missing: production-grade execution on real payment rails.

The Problem: AI Can Decide, But It Can’t Always Pay

Modern AI systems can:

  • Determine when a subscription should renew

  • Route payouts dynamically

  • Optimise vendor payments

  • Manage digital treasury strategies

But execution typically requires one of the following:

  • Manual approvals

  • Custodial wallet workarounds

  • Custom-built payment integrations

  • Fragile experimental tooling

That creates friction and operational risk.

Wirex Agents bridges this gap by allowing AI systems to initiate real financial transactions using stablecoin infrastructure — while preserving a non-custodial architecture.

What Wirex Agents Provides

Wirex Agents is built on Wirex BaaS, Wirex’s non-custodial stablecoin payment layer designed for programmable finance and machine-native transactions.

Through regulated connectivity and non-custodial infrastructure, AI agents can access:

  • Stablecoin-powered Visa cards

  • Stablecoin virtual bank accounts

  • Push-to-card payments

  • Cross-border transfers

  • Cashback-as-a-service infrastructure

This is not experimental infrastructure. These capabilities extend payment rails that Wirex already operates at scale, reflecting the operational maturity required for real-world settlement and card-linked money movement.

Wirex’s onchain payment volume exceeds $840M annualised and is transparently trackable at: https://paymentscan.xyz/issuers/wirex

Developer Infrastructure: MCP Server and Agent Skills

To make autonomous financial execution practical inside agent workflows, Wirex is launching two key components.

MCP Server (Machine Commerce Protocol)

The MCP server enables AI systems to interact directly with Wirex payment rails for:

  • Stablecoin card issuance

  • Payout execution

  • Treasury automation

It acts as a programmable bridge between AI systems and regulated financial infrastructure.

Agent Skills

Wirex is also introducing reusable payment capabilities (“agent skills”) that can be integrated across agent clients and frameworks — including Claude Code and other toolchains.

This allows teams to embed real financial execution without building proprietary payment infrastructure from scratch.

What Wirex Agents Enables

The agent economy represents a structural shift: AI systems not only analyse and optimise — they transact.

Emerging use cases include:

  • Autonomous subscription management

  • Vendor and marketplace payouts

  • Compute and API cost settlement

  • Treasury rebalancing

  • Micropayments and programmable commerce

Wirex Agents supports these workflows through:

  • Non-custodial stablecoin infrastructure

  • Direct Visa payment rails

  • Global settlement via ACH, SEPA, FPS, SWIFT, and push-to-card

  • 1:1 stablecoin conversion with zero spreads

  • Merchant acceptance at 80M+ locations

By combining card issuance, banking connectivity, and programmable money movement, Wirex positions stablecoins as usable, machine-native money — built for real-world commerce rather than purely onchain transfers.
